Rental of the Week: Stuyvesant Barn + Studio, $4,500/month

89 county route 46 stuyvesant ny

Well isn’t this a sweet little slice of heaven, right in Columbia County. Naturally, the rent made us gasp a little upon first glance, but what a beauty of a farm and studio combined on 14 acres. Located in the town of Stuyvesant, the 4200-square-foot house with detached studio sports some nice views, including those of the Hudson and the Catskill Mountains. It also comes furnished, and we dig that church pew couch. Available starting May 1st.

Stuyvesant Gentleman’s Farm, $495,000

Having some ag-related dreams lately? We are. It’s hard not to after looking at so many great farmhouses in Columbia County, but the prospect can be just a tad overwhelming. This dairy farm might be a good place to start. It’s relatively small, just under 12 acres, and includes 3 barns and lots of outbuildings, plus plenty of room for livestock and vegetable crops. The main house is currently set up as a multi-family situation, but according to the listing, it could be converted. It’s a lovely rambling old farmhouse that looks like it needs some TLC, starting with the (dun dun DUUUN!) floral wallpaper upstairs. No pictures of the kitchen available. That’s always bummer.

Stuyvesant Eyebrow Colonial, $195,000

So much potential with this colonial farmhouse on 7.5 acres. Yes, it needs work, but it looks like some of that work has started already. We love the historical details like the windows, doors, and pine plank floors. Imagine what it would it could be with a liberal application of elbow grease. Looks like a gorgeous location, too, in a very rural area about five minutes outside of Stuyvesant. Property includes a swimming pond.

Stuyvesant Falls Cottage, $172,000

What a bargain: Cute, affordable, a decent size (1800 square feet), and we like the location, which is right in the hamlet of Stuyvesant Falls. There’s not much there except a church and a post office, but what it does have is a really nice waterfall, which is walking distance from this house.

Stuyvesant Falls

We especially like the kitchen with the wood stove and brick, as well as the screened-in porch. The lot size is “compact and easy to maintain” according to the listing, which translates as “small” to us. And indeed it is at .18 acres.
