Stone Ridge Colonial Farmhouse + 8 acres, $850,000

895 buck road stone ridge ny

It was really difficult to choose which houses to talk about this week, and since we only had five days, we missed a lot. So, we suggest you check out this place, this place, and this place in Stone Ridge, if you still feel like sticking around. Why did we choose this 1930s farmhouse for our final property? The first three photos after the jump will explain why, but the kitchen and the 12-foot ceilings didn’t hurt. Listing says there’s a waterfall on the property. We want to see it!

Stone Ridge Saltbox Cabin, $379,900

323 beaverkill road stone ridge ny

Rustic with just the right amount of quirk and charm is how we’d describe this saltbox, and while the address says Stone Ridge, or Kingston, depending on where you look, it’s actually located closer to Olivebridge, up near the Ashokan Reservoir. No matter. We like it. According to the listing, the current owners of the house, a builder/landscaper design team, have spent the last seven years using reclaimed wood to turn the property into the little slice of fairytale you see before you. We love the landscaping and the wooden fences and trellis. Such a unique property.

Stone Ridge Greek Revival Fixer-Upper, $135,000

3611 main street stone ridge ny

Looking for a summer project? Got a pile of tools you’re dying to use to make something amazing? Here you go: A gorgeous Greek Revival on Main Street in Stone Ridge that needs work. Listing states it was built in 1848 and registered as an historic place, and we love it. It’s impossible to get a good bead on what needs to be done from photos, but based on eyeballing alone, it looks like most of rooms are okayish, with the kitchen looking the most in need. But who knows what lurks beneath the wood floors? Very close to Main Street, which is a well-traveled road, but it’s walking distance to everywhere (including the rock and roll hardware store, right across the street), which will give you the opportunity to test out those new sidewalks we’ve been hearing about.

Stone Ridge circa-1709 Stone Farmhouse, $999,000

19 bogart lane stone ridge ny

Stone Ridge has a preponderance of beautiful old stone houses, including this one, which was built in 1709. For the asking price, we would love to see a bit more of the interior, but we’re also big fans of big barns, which help to make this property even sweeter. Lot size is a roomy 55+ acres, and it’s not far from the center of the hamlet, yet tucked back enough from any roads to offer some privacy. Love that tin roof. Our hearts get all fluttery when we look at old stone houses. It’s sort of akin to the thought of living in a museum, the same reason why we used to love that book about the two kids who run away to live in the Met. Remember that book?

A little word of warning on the taxes: YIKES.
