Rental of the Week: Stanfordville Bungalow, $1950/month

We thought now would be a good time to take a bit of a break from tiny houses and stretch our legs in this roomy circa-1880 bungalow. According to the listing, part of it was once a school house, and now it has a crisp interior and tons of land to roam around on, over 27 acres. Includes in-ground pool, terraces, and a sleeping cabin. The rent price is a bargain, considering that it’s currently on the market for $879,000.

Historic Georgian in Stanfordville, $969,000

You may recognize this pristine circa-1790 house from our Stanford Town of the Week post. It’s definitely a stunner, inside and out. The listing says the house, which is located in the hamlet of Bangall, is a “Dutchess County landmark”. Not difficult to imagine why, with it’s white stateliness and manicured lawns. True, it’s pricey, but here’s what you get: In-ground pool, huge barn, two parlors, nine (!) fireplaces, and some truly stunning details. The fact that it’s on 4+ acres doesn’t hurt, either.

Converted Train Depot in Stanfordville, $499,000

Listen, if you’re going to tell us that this is a converted train depot from 1860, the least you could do is show us a clear picture of what it looks like on the outside. Regardless, we love the interior with its angles, alcoves, built-in shelves, lots of bathrooms, and plenty of space. The kitchen isn’t our style, but it’s not a wreck. Property is on 3 acres and includes an additional guest house and creek frontage. We would love to see a picture of what it looked liked when it was a train station.

Stanfordville Cottage, $349,000

Lots to like about this house: Tons of windows, the nice use of exposed brick, sky lights in the kitchen, lovely exterior stone work, not to mention that it’s plopped down in the midst of 4 very secluded acres on a dead end road about 4 miles from the heart of Stanfordville. But what we love most of all is this absolutely adorable out building on the property. Let’s have a tea party in here immediately!
