Cragsmoor was our Town of the Week last week, but we’re still poking around the hamlet to see what’s on the horizon. Coming up this Sunday, December 22nd, at 3pm, Cragsmoor residents Tom Gale and Karen Wells will be reading “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” by Dylan Thomas and “Zlateh the Goat” by Isaac Bashevis Singer at the Cragsmoor Stone Church, 280 Henry Road (GMAP). The event is hosted by ArtsWAVE, a local group promoting artistic endeavors in Wawarsing and the village of Ellenville.

Cragsmoor Contemporary, $349,500

440 south gully road cragsmoor ny

Another house with a fabulous view in Cragsmoor, this one located on three acres. Although we’re not always fond of those asymmetrical 1980s Contemporary designs, this one is rather unobjectionable with an interior that could work well as a blank canvas for all of your various wants and wishes. The kitchen/dining/living room space is all on an open floor plan, and we’re thinking that the wood stove in the living room probably does a yeoman’s job keeping the house warm during the winter. Includes a wrap-around deck that lends it a treehouse-like quality.

Albert Cottage in Cragsmoor, $395,000

6 schuyler ave cragsmoor ny

This is the kind of place we would expect to find in Cragsmoor: A 19th-century cottage that exemplifies the sensibilities of an art colony. The Albert Cottage was built in 1889 and listed on the National Historic Registry. It’s also a pristine example of the early America Craftsman design movement, which rebelled against the ornate foofiness of the Victorian movement. Everything about this house looks solidly-built, well put together, and simple, with plank floors, a stone fire place, screened-in porch, French doors, lots of windows, and so on. Long story short, it’s out favorite house on the market in Cragsmoor. Located right in the heart of the hamlet.

Cragsmoor Arts & Crafts, $379,900

17 baxter road cragsmoor ny

Not only is Cragsmoor known for its Victorians, it’s also known for some lovely Craftsman-style homes. This Ranch Craftsman was built in 1956 and has a lot of nice stuff going for it: High ceilings, skylights, and big windows. It also includes a detached workshop perfect for a studio space and an in-ground pool, all on nearly 2 acres of land. Located at the end of Baxter Road just off route 52 in the hamlet.
