Wanted: Restaurateur in Catskill

404 main street catskill ny

404 Main Street, Catskill

Would-be restaurant owners, listen up: 404 Main Street is available. The 2,500 square foot commercial space is located in the village of Catskill, and it’s up for grabs for someone to come along and fill it with happy patrons eating fabulous food. And this area needs it. Right now, most of the eateries in the village are of the breakfast and lunch variety, with very few places to go for dinner (although lunch options here would be good, too. The county building is right across the street and employs 300 people. That’s a big lunch crowd!). Or, it could be a gallery space. Or, a retail shop. Anyway, here’s the website that will give you all the dirt. Rent is TBD and terms are flexible. The owners want someone in there to help enhance the village, which you can find out more about here. So? What are you waiting for? More photos on the jump.

Five-Figure Friday: Catskill Village Home, $84,900

79 thompson st catskill ny

Catskill (both town and village) is a great place to scout for properties priced less than $100,000. We think we like this one, although the pictures are a bit of  a mystery and don’t shed much light on what’s really going on inside. The wood floors look good. It’s got big windows. But other than beds, radiators, and a picture of the kitchen sink, we don’t know anything else. The listing says it’s a two-family but the owner will take out one of the two kitchens for conversion into a single-family. Located right in the village on a street that connects to Main Street. Lot size is tiny.

Catskill Farmhouse, $275,000

305 cairo junction catskill ny

Here’s a pretty farmhouse on five acres in a rural setting about six miles west of the village of Catskill. The farmhouse has been standing since the 1700s and is currently divided into a three-family dwelling. We’re not sure how easy the transition would be back into a single-family, but if it could be done, you’d have a 6 bed/3.5 bath rambling farmhouse. The house clearly needs a lot of work, just how much is not entirely clear (there are also only a few interior shots, so it’s difficult to get the full story), but we find ourselves excited at potential, and this seems to have it. Also includes a pond and a barn.

Catskill Colonial, $189,900

199 spring street catskill ny

And the Catskill bargains keep rolling in. Here’s a pretty Colonial on Spring Street in the village, just across the way from the Thomas Cole historic site. While we find the exterior and some elements of the interior pleasing, we feel that some aspects could use some updating/changing, like the floral wallpapering. The bathroom is a little blah, and we have no idea what the kitchen looks like. But it seems to have been well cared for, and it’s surrounding by other lovely properties. Includes a back patio and detached 2-car garage.
