Where to Dine on Valentine’s Day in Upstate New York (A Small Sample)

Photo from The Ridiculous Food Society of Upstate NY
We cover hundreds of miles of territory, so this is no easy job. But we’ll attempt to make suggestions in different corners of upstate New York.
Hudson: Ca’Mea
The atmosphere: swanky/romantic. The food: delicious, rich. This restaurant opened about a decade ago on the main strip of Warren Street, and continues to have a loyal following.
Rhinebeck: The Rhinecliff
Not intimate, per se, but set upon the river, upscale, nice views, and the rumble of the train passing by.
Saugerties: New World Home Cooking
It’s the annua Safe Sex Dinner. Yes, there will be oysters. Reservations required.
Woodstock: Bear Café.
Sweet-looking, along the creek. Delicious food and a weekday prix-fixe.
Kingston: Boitson’s in Uptown.
Started by an ex-New Yorker whose old landlord left her money in his will to open a restaurant.
Or stay home. The Ridiculous Food Society found a nice heart-shaped steak in an upstate market.
I own a second home in the catskills and i have to say that its tough to beat The Heron in Narrowsburg (sullivan county). Opened in 2012 and its a great option (food, atmosphere, etc) in the coolest town in sullivan county.
