Quantcast

Hurley Contemporary, $369,900

This will certainly teach us not to ignore a house just because, at first glance, it might not be something we would normally drool over. Looks like a standard, albeit well-keep, contemporary ranch-style number, right? Sure, it’s sitting pretty on over on just over an acre, but beyond that, Meh-sville.

But wait until you see the inside, especially the kitchen. And don’t forget your flux capacitor, Marty McFly, because you’re about to time-travel.

That’s some sweet cabinetry right there. According to the listing, these are the original Republic Steel cabinets, still in mint condition, that were installed in the place when it was built in 1963.

The rest of the house has other well-maintained, very cool retro details, including the living room fireplace complete with built-in chargrill and what appears to be copper hoods, brick walls, and a slate entryway. For better or worse, the carpets and kitchen linoleum are throw-backs, too, but maybe not in the most aesthetically-pleasing way. One might argue, however, that these features should stay, just to keep the house as one unadulterated artifact of the 60s. Either way, the kitchen really sells it. And if anyone knows where we can get our hands on some turquoise mint-condition Republic Steel cabinetry, please let us know, because we’re a little bit in love with it.
