Stone Colonial in Hurley, $379,000

Anyone who’s been following this blog for any length of time has most likely picked up on the fact that we like historic houses. There’s just something about walking on the floors and touching the walls of a structure that is hundreds of years old; it makes us feel like we’re a part of something bigger than ourselves, something grander. We never grow tired of that feeling. So anytime we find one, we have to post it.

This house dates from 1750, but according to the listing, the original bones could go back as far as 1708.

The house sits on 1.5 acres right on historic Main Street in Old Hurley, but as you can see from the photo above, it’s also right on the road. Property includes an additional barn. One multiple listing service states that the original wide plank floors are hiding under the carpeting. Which makes us wonder, why anyone would want to cover it up in the first place?
