Upstater is the hub for upstate New York real estate and culture, north of the 'burbs, south of the Adirondacks, east of the Finger Lakes and west of the Connecticut border.

This handyman special looks like it has great potential from the outside. Unfortunately this is the only photo that any real estate listing is offering for the property. It’s currently on the market for less than half of what it sold two years ago. It’s located across the street from St. Luke’s Hospital and a church. From the street it looks like the home is grandly raised a few feet higher than the curb. The area is depressed, and had hopes of a grant to restore a nearby street, Dubois. Anybody have any clue if any work has been done?

Diary of a Transplant: Hudson Wakes Up for Summer
Newburgh really intrigues me. Such incredible architecture despite the relics. Anyway, I’m glad I stumbled across this site.
Yeah, that’s really what Cher’s posts are all about–getting folks excited about the potential in Newburgh, and to see past its incredible challenges. Such a bounty of beautiful homes there.
Hi Bullwinkle. Yes Newburgh really does have such incredible architecture, and it is very easy to research the history too! Like Upstater said, that is the point of my blog and my posts on this site, to raise curiosity about Newburgh and to finally get a renaissance moving like pretty much the rest of the Hudson Valley has already started to see. Happy hunting.
